If there is no therapeutic effect, use of the drug should be discontinued; if the effect is good or satisfactory, proceed to oral or rectal use. Before administering the injection solution, it should be warmed in your hands.

pharmachologic effect

Spasmalgon is a combined anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antispasmodic drug. The mechanism of action of this drug is determined by the properties of the substances included in the composition.

Pitophenone hydrochloride is a myotropic antispasmodic that has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of internal organs, causing it to relax. Metamizole is an NSAID that inhibits cyclooxygenase, as well as inhibits the synthesis of prostacyclin, thromboxane and prostaglandins.

Spazmalgon also contains a substance such as fenpiverinium bromide. It has an anticholinergic effect and has a relaxing effect on smooth muscles. The combination of these three components in Spazmalgon leads to an increase in their pharmacological properties.

Contraindications

  • granulocytopenia, megacolon;
  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • prostatic hyperplasia with urinary retention;
  • pregnancy, breastfeeding period;
  • tachyarrhythmia;
  • chronic heart failure (stage of decompensation);
  • serious disturbances in the functioning of the kidneys and liver;
  • allergy to the components of the drug, pyrazolone derivatives;
  • stable, unstable angina;
  • inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis.

The drug is contraindicated for use in children under 6 years of age. Spasmalgon is prescribed with caution for diseases of the renal and hepatic systems, low blood pressure (systolic reading below 100 mm Hg), a contraindication is a tendency to bronchospasm.

Side effects

Spasmalgon and drug analogues can cause a number of side effects:

  • difficulty urinating;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • leukopenia, anemia;
  • increased irritability;
  • allergic reactions (itching, urticaria, Lyell's syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis);
  • headache;
  • acceleration of heart rate, agranulocytosis;
  • exacerbation of gastritis and peptic ulcers;
  • malaise, dry mouth;
  • increased blood pressure.

If the above-described effects occur when using Spazmalgon or analogues, be sure to contact a medical facility.

Children, pregnancy and breastfeeding

Is it possible to drink Spazmalgon during pregnancy? The drug is contraindicated during this period of life due to a lack of clinical studies. The medicine is also not recommended for use during breastfeeding.

The drug is contraindicated in children under 6 years of age. For children over six years of age, the drug is used according to the recommended dosage regimen.

special instructions

When using the drug for more than 5 days, tests should be taken to monitor the levels of platelets and leukocytes, as well as the activity of liver transminases. If thrombocytopenia or agranulocytosis is detected, treatment with Spazmalgon should be stopped immediately.

During drug therapy, it is prohibited to drink alcoholic beverages, as this increases the risk of toxic damage to the liver and kidneys.

During the use of Spazmalgon, patients may experience dizziness, decreased blood pressure, and drowsiness. In view of these data, drug therapy is not recommended to be combined with driving a car or operating complex equipment that requires increased concentration.

Does the drug increase or decrease blood pressure?

The medicine is not used to stabilize blood pressure, however, when using the medicine, spasms of blood vessels are relieved, which may result in a decrease in blood pressure.

Drug interactions

Tranquilizers and sedatives increase the severity of the analgesic effect. Spasmalgon and non-narcotic analgesics, when taken simultaneously, can lead to increased toxic effects of the drugs.

The simultaneous use of cyclosporine and spasmalgon reduces the concentration of the former in the blood. Inducers of microsomal liver enzymes reduce the effectiveness of metamizole. Spasmalgon enhances the effect of ethanol.

Concomitant use with phenothiazine derivatives increases body temperature. Allopurinol, COCs, tricyclic antidepressants disrupt the metabolism of metamizole in the liver, resulting in increased toxicity.

Cytostatics and thiamazole increase the risk of developing leukopenia. The effectiveness of the drug is increased by H2-histamine receptor blockers, codeine, propranolol.

Analogues of the drug Spazmalgon

Analogues are determined by structure:

  1. I took it.
  2. Plenalgin.
  3. Maxigan.
  4. Spasmoblock.
  5. Renalgan.
  6. Bralangin.
  7. Spasmalin.

Spasmalgon– three-component potent

anesthetic And

antispasmodic drug. The combination of the main components of the drug - fenpiverinium bromide, metamizole sodium and pitofenone hydrochloride ensures mutual enhancement of their pharmacological action and achievement of quick results.

Phenpiverinium bromide belongs to the group of M-anticholinergics, and its main effects are:

  • dilation of the pupils of the eyes;
  • increased intraocular pressure;
  • increased heart rate;
  • decreased blood pressure;
  • decreased tone of smooth muscles of the bronchi, gastrointestinal tract, bladder and uterus;
  • decreased secretory activity of the bronchial, digestive and sweat glands.

Metamizole sodium has a rapid and pronounced analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect.

Pitophenone hydrochloride causes relaxation of the smooth muscles of internal organs - the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory and genitourinary systems, as well as blood vessels. The effect of pitofenone is greatly enhanced by the presence of fenpiverinium bromide.

Accordingly, the combination of these three components provides relief from a painful attack within 15-40 minutes (depending on the route of administration). The therapeutic maximum occurs on average an hour and a half after using the drug. Subsequently, the analgesic effect slowly decreases and completely disappears after 6-10 hours. The duration and strength of action of Spasmalgon largely depends on the condition of the liver and the individual sensitivity of the patient.

Release forms

The drug Spazmalgon is available in tablets and solutions for intravenous and intramuscular administration.

Tablets are available in blisters of 10, 20 and 50 pieces, packed in a cardboard box. Ampoules can be 2 ml and 5 ml, each box contains 5 or 10 ampoules.

Spasmalgon during pregnancy and lactation

In the first and third trimester

pregnancy

taking Spazmalgon is contraindicated, because this drug may cause severe birth defects (

heartlungs

Eye, etc.). In the last trimester of pregnancy, Spazmalgon can cause

uterine bleeding miscarriage

Weakening of labor.

In the second trimester of pregnancy, it is also better for a woman to refrain from taking Spazmalgon, because its effect on the fetus in this period has not been sufficiently studied. If necessary, the doctor will recommend a safer drug to the pregnant woman.

If treatment with Spazmalgon is required during breastfeeding, then breastfeeding should be avoided, because the drug easily passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding can be resumed 48 hours after the last use of the drug.

What does Spazmalgon help with?

Spasmalgon has a wide spectrum of action and can be used for various pains associated with spasm or increased tone of the smooth muscles of organs or blood vessels. Below are specific cases of using the drug.

For headaches

Spasmalgon for headaches can be used only in cases where there is complete confidence that this condition is not caused by increased

intracranial pressure

or cerebrovascular accident. In other cases, Spazmalgon is taken no more than 1 tablet at a time. The drug may be repeated at regular intervals per day, but not more than 4 tablets per day.

For migraines, you can also drink Spazmalgon. In this case, it is advisable to take it before the onset of the attack, at the warning stage. Depending on individual sensitivity, 1-2 Spazmalgon tablets taken at a time, or intramuscular injection of 2 ml of the drug, help relieve vascular spasm. If the migraine already has developed symptoms, then it will not be possible to influence the headache with the help of Spasmalgon.

However, it should be remembered that with frequent or long-term use of combined drugs, which is Spazmalgon, analgesic dependence and addiction to the drug develops.

For toothache For mild or moderate toothache, you can take Spazmalgon in tablet form. A single dose can be 1-2 tablets. No more than 6 tablets are allowed per day. However, it should be remembered that painkillers taken before a visit to the dentist significantly reduce the activity of dental anesthesia. Therefore, your dentist should be warned that you took painkillers, and should also tell him the amount.

When using Spazmalgon after dental treatment, the drug is taken 1 tablet no more than 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is no more than 2-3 days. If the pain persists for a longer period, you should visit the dentist again to find out the cause of the pain.

For pain during menstruation If menstruation is accompanied by algodismenorrhea (pain caused by increased tone of the muscles of the uterus or inflammatory processes in the genital organs) or there is premenstrual syndrome, Spazmalgon can have a fairly quick effect. In this case, it is recommended to take 1 tablet 2 times a day. In case of intense pain, it is allowed to increase the daily dose to 6 tablets, or administer the drug intravenously in an amount of 2 ml. If repeated administration is necessary, this should be done no earlier than 6 hours after the first injection. The duration of taking the drug is no more than 3-5 days.

Interaction of Spazmalgon with other medications Injectable Spazmalgon is not compatible with any of the medications.

When Spazmalgon is used together with antiparkinsonian, antiarrhythmic drugs, antidepressants and oral contraceptives, the side effects of Spazmalgon may increase, including toxic effects.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as analgesics with antipyretic effects, mutually enhance side effects.

Sedatives enhance the effect of Spasmalgon.

With simultaneous treatment with cyclosporine antibiotics and Spazmalgon, the concentration of cyclosporins in the blood decreases and their therapeutic effect decreases. Dose adjustment also requires simultaneous treatment with indirect coagulants and Spazmalgon, because the activity of the former decreases.

Considering that among the excipients that are part of the tablet forms of the drug are wheat starch and lactose, Spazmalgon should not be taken by people with lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome and celiac enteropathy.

Spasmalgon and alcohol

The drug is not compatible with alcohol, so during treatment with Spazmalgon you should refrain from drinking any alcoholic beverages. Otherwise, it is possible to develop symptoms characteristic of alcoholism.

  • Nebalgan;
  • Piafen;
  • Spazvin;
  • Revalgin;
  • Baralgetas;
  • Nebalgan;

Reviews about the drug

Galina, Krasnoyarsk:“Despite the fact that Spasmalgon analogues are often cheaper, I have been using only Spasmalgon for many years. He's the only one who helps me

pain in the spine

In addition, it, unlike other drugs, does not raise blood

pressure

And it’s often elevated for me anyway. On the contrary, Spazmalgon slightly reduces blood pressure, so it turns out to be a 2 in 1 remedy - both for pain in the spine and for blood pressure.”

Natalia, Petrozavodsk:“I have been suffering from migraines for a long time and have probably already tried all existing painkillers. I found salvation only in spasmalgon, because... it can help not only during the period when an aura appears before an attack, but even when a headache appears. I’m glad that the drug has a very affordable price, otherwise I would have to look for something cheaper, although hardly more effective.”

Mikhail, Novoozernoe:“Headaches are not typical for me, but recently at work I got such a headache that I had tears in my eyes. And, as luck would have it, I had to work until late in the evening, and the headache pills in my work kit had run out. A colleague saved me; she had a drug that was new to me - Spazmalgon. I drank it and literally after half an hour the pain went away, although before that I couldn’t even move my head. Now I always carry a package of Spazmalgon with me, besides, it helps a lot with toothache, and I have an obvious problem with this.”

Sofia, Khartsyzsk:“For me, spasmalgon is the only drug that helps me during menstruation. They always start out very painful for me. In general, I’m not a fan of taking pills, but if I can’t rest at home, I always take 1-2 tablets of spasmalgon and I feel quite good all day long. Other drugs didn’t help me so well, so I always carry a pack of these pills with me in my purse.”

Drug price

Despite the fact that Spazmalgon is produced by two Bulgarian companies - Actavis Group and Sopharma - the cost of the drug is low. On average, in Russian pharmacies it can be purchased for 100-170 rubles per pack of 20 tablets. Spazmalgon No. 50 in tablets costs from 230 rubles.

Injection Spazmalgon costs a little more. For it you will have to pay about 22-25 rubles for one ampoule, or 150-170 rubles for a pack of 10 ampoules of 2 ml, and 180-220 rubles for a pack of 10 ampoules of 5 ml.

To eliminate pain in dentistry or other areas of medicine, Spazmalgon tablets or solution are used - the instructions for use of the drug state that it is an anti-inflammatory drug that acts quickly and effectively in the human body. It contains complex active substances - pain and spasm blockers, which explains its work. Read the instructions for use of the medication.

The drug Spazmalgon

The pharmacological classification classifies the drug Spazmalgon as an antispasmodic analgesic. This means that the drug has a complex effect - it relieves muscle spasm and analgesizes, eliminating pain. This effect is achieved by a combination of three active components - metamizole sodium, pitofenone hydrochloride and fenpiverinium bromide.

Composition and release form

The drug is available in the form of tablets and solution for parenteral administration. Detailed composition of Spazmalgon:

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The combination of components relieves pain, relaxes muscle spasms, and reduces elevated body temperature. The drug contains the non-narcotic analgesic metamizole sodium, the myotropic substance pitofenone hydrochloride and the anticholinergic drug fenpiverinium bromide:

  1. Metamizole is a pyrazolone derivative that relieves pain, inflammation, and inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins. The substance is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After parenteral administration, the component binds to plasma proteins by 55% and is excreted in breast milk. Metabolites are found in the cerebrospinal fluid and are excreted by the kidneys.
  2. Pitophenone is similar in structure to papaverine, directly acts on the smooth muscles of the intestines and other internal organs, relaxes it. The antispasmodic substance is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching maximum concentration after 45 minutes.
  3. Fenpiverinium has an anticholinergic effect, an antispasmodic effect, relaxing the smooth muscles of the stomach. The substance is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaches a maximum in blood plasma after an hour, and is excreted in urine and bile.

The combination of three active components relieves pain in 15-40 minutes. Penetration by parenteral route is faster than oral. The therapeutic maximum of pain relief occurs after 1-1.5 hours. The analgesic effect gradually decreases over time and is completely eliminated after 6-10 hours. Its duration depends on the sensitivity of the patient and the condition of the liver.

Indications for use

Doctors often prescribe Spazmalgon - the instructions for use of the drug indicate the following indications for its use:

  • mild or moderate pain with smooth muscle spasm;
  • hepatic, renal clicks;
  • algodismenorrhea;
  • short-term treatment of joint pain;
  • reduction of pain sensitivity after surgical operations;
  • decrease in body temperature.

During menstruation

Algomenorrhea can often accompany menstruation. These are pains caused by increased muscle tone of the uterus or inflammation in it and other genital organs. In this case, spasmalgon has a quick effect and can eliminate pain due to premenstrual syndrome. According to the instructions, the medicine is taken one tablet twice a day. For very severe attacks, you can increase the dose to six tablets or administer 2 ml of the drug intramuscularly at intervals of six hours. The course of treatment should not last more than 3-5 days.

For headaches

If the patient or doctor is sure that the headache is not caused by increased intracranial pressure or cerebral circulatory problems, then Spazmalgon can be taken as a single tablet. It is permissible to use no more than four tablets per day. The drug can be taken at the stage of precursors of migraine symptoms - before the onset of an attack. Taking 1-2 tablets or 2 ml intramuscular injections will help relieve vascular spasm.

For toothache

For moderately intense toothache, take Spazmalgon tablets in the amount of 1-2 pieces at a time. The maximum daily dose is six tablets. Before going to the dentist, it is better not to use the drug, so as not to reduce the activity of dental anesthesia. After dental treatment, the medicine is taken one tablet 2-3 times a day for a course of 2-3 days.

Directions for use and dosage

The instructions for each release form of Spazmalgon indicate the method of use and dosage. The tablets are taken orally, the solution is administered parenterally (intravenously or intramuscularly). The duration of the course, regimen and dosage are determined by the doctor based on the patient’s age, type of pain syndrome, and individual characteristics.

Spazmalgon tablets

According to the instructions for use, children over 15 years of age and adults take 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day after meals. You are allowed to take a maximum of six tablets per day, and the maximum course lasts five days. Children 6-8 years old should take 0.5 tablets, 9-12 years old – 3/4 tablets, 13-15 years old – 1 tablet. 2-3 times/day, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor. Long-term use of the drug threatens the body’s adaptation to the action of the active substances and a gradual weakening of the effect.

Spasmalgon in ampoules

For adults and adolescents over 15 years of age, the injection solution is administered slowly intravenously in 1 ml doses over a minute with a dose of 2 ml. The injection can be repeated after 6-8 hours. According to the instructions, 2-5 ml of solution is administered intramuscularly up to three times a day with a maximum daily dose of 10 ml (5 g of metamizole sodium). Treatment lasts up to five days. Before administration, the solution is warmed in the hand. Dosages for children depend on age, are equal to 0.1-1 ml and differ in increments of 0.1 ml for every two years. Up to three months it is administered only intramuscularly, after which it can also be administered intravenously.

special instructions

In the instructions for use of the drug, it is useful to study the special instructions section. Some excerpts from there:

  • taking Spazmalgon for more than a week requires monitoring of peripheral blood and liver function; if agranulocytosis or thrombocytopenia is suspected, treatment is stopped;
  • the drug affects the speed of mental reactions, reducing it and concentration, therefore, during therapy it is not recommended to drive vehicles and dangerous mechanisms;
  • parenteral administration is used if it is impossible to take tablets orally or if absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is impaired;
  • intravenous injections are given slowly, in a lying position;
  • long needles are used for intramuscular injection;
  • During therapy, urine may become stained.

During pregnancy

Spasmalgon is contraindicated during lactation and pregnancy, especially in the first trimester and the last six weeks of pregnancy. If the doctor determines the potential benefit of the drug is higher than the expected risk to the fetus, the drug will be prescribed, but with constant monitoring. If treatment with Spasmalgon is necessary during breastfeeding, the latter is discontinued.

The tablet form of the medication is contraindicated for children under six years of age; up to 15 years of age, use is possible only as prescribed by a doctor for special indications. Intravenous administration of the drug is prohibited for children under one year old, and intramuscular administration - up to three months or with a body weight of less than five kg. Children's dosage differs from adult dosage from 50 to 75%; after 15 years, adolescents can take an equal dose to adults.

Interaction with alcohol

During treatment with Spazmalgon, it is forbidden to take alcohol and ethanol-containing drinks or medications, because the active substances of the drug enhance the toxic effect of ethyl alcohol. This threatens a large load on the liver, symptoms of overdose and poisoning. During the entire course of taking the medication, you should follow the “prohibition law”.

Drug interactions

The instructions for use of Spazmalgon indicate the presence of drug interactions between the drug and other medications:

  • tricyclic antidepressants increase the toxicity of the drug;
  • barbiturates, phenylbutazone, inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the effect of metamizole;
  • Spazmalgon reduces the level of cyclosporine in the blood;
  • sedatives, codeine, histamine receptor blockers and tranquilizers enhance the effect of the drug;
  • use a combination of Spasmalgon and cytostatics, Thiamazole with caution due to the development of leukopenia;
  • histamine blockers, butyrophenones, phenothiazines, amantadines and quinidines enhance the anticholinergic effect of the drug;
  • Chlorpromazine and phenothiazine derivatives may cause severe hypothermia;
  • combination with radiocontrast agents, colloidal blood substitutes, and Penicillin is prohibited;
  • Metamizole sodium increases the effect of indirect anticoagulants, glucocorticoids, Indomethacin.

Side effects and overdose

The use of the drug may result in the following possible side effects indicated in the instructions:

  • burning sensation in the stomach, dry mouth;
  • dizziness, decreased sweating;
  • difficulty urinating, blurred vision;
  • decreased blood pressure, tachycardia, cyanosis;
  • renal dysfunction, nephritis;
  • urticaria, allergic reactions;
  • erythema, necrolysis;

Mikhail, 37 years old

Last month I had a bad toothache, and my dentist was on vacation and couldn’t see me. To relieve pain before his arrival, I bought Spazmalgon. I liked that the pills worked quickly, the tooth stopped aching. I used the medicine for five days and then my doctor came back and saw me. I will keep this wonderfully working drug in mind.

Sofia, 29 years old

I always take Spazmalgon during the first days of my period - my stomach hurts very badly, and only this drug saves me. Once again I went to the pharmacy and didn’t find it, so I had to ask the pharmacist to give me an analogue of Spazmalgon. She sold me No-shpa, which, according to reviews, does not work well. I'll have to look for my favorite remedy.

Ivan, 32 years old

I work a lot, so I often suffer from headaches. I read from reviews on the Internet that Spazmalgon quickly relieves spasms and pain syndrome. I bought it at the pharmacy and started taking it almost every day. After a month of constant use, I noticed that the effect was weakening and went to the doctor. He scolded me for taking too often and for a long time and prescribed treatment.

Daria, 31 years old

After the operation, the child’s stitches hurt very much and he cried. The doctors admitted him to the hospital and prescribed drips with the painkiller Spazmalgon. Later I found out that the drug had too many side effects, but everything worked out for my son. Next time, before treatment, I will carefully study the prescribed medications.

pharmachologic effect

The drug contains: the non-narcotic analgesic metamizole sodium, the myotropic antispasmodic drug pitofenone and the m-anticholinergic drug fenpiverinium bromide.

Metamizole is a pyrazolone derivative. It has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. Pitophenone, like papaverine, has a direct myotropic effect on the smooth muscles of internal organs and causes its relaxation. Phenpiverinium due to its m-anticholinergic effect, it has an additional relaxing effect on smooth muscles.

The combination of the three components of the drug leads to pain relief, relaxation of smooth muscles, and a decrease in elevated body temperature.

Indications

Mild or moderate pain syndrome due to spasms of the smooth muscles of internal organs - renal and hepatic colic, spasmodic pain along the intestines, algodismenorrhea. Can be used for short-term symptomatic treatment of joint pain, neuralgia, sciatica, myalgia;

As an adjuvant it can be used to reduce pain after surgical and diagnostic interventions;

If necessary, the drug can be used to reduce elevated body temperature during colds and infectious and inflammatory diseases.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to nirazolone derivatives (butadiene, tribuzone), to other components of the drug;

Inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis;

Stable and unstable angina;

Chronic heart failure in the stage of decompensation;

Severe liver or kidney dysfunction;

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;

Tachyarrhythmias;

Angle-closure form of glaucoma;

Prostatic hyperplasia with a tendency to urinary retention;

Intestinal obstruction and megalocon;

Granulocytopenia;

Pregnancy (especially the first trimester and the last 6 weeks);

Lactation period;

Children's age up to 6 years.

Carefully and under the supervision of a physician, the drug should be used in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, with a tendency to arterial hypotension (systolic pressure below 100 mmHg), bronchospasm, as well as with increased individual sensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or non-narcotic analgesics.

Dosage

Adults and children over 15 years old taken orally (preferably after meals), usually 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day. The daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets. Duration of administration is no more than 5 days.

Increasing the daily dose of the drug or the duration of treatment is possible only on the recommendation and under the supervision of a physician.

Dosages for children.

In children, the drug is used only as prescribed by a doctor.

Dosage for children 6-8 years old- half a tablet, 9-12 years- three quarters of a tablet, 13-15 years old- one tablet 2-3 times a day. Other dosage regimens are possible only after consultation with a doctor.

Side effects

From the digestive system: burning sensation in the epigastric region, dry mouth.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, anticholinergic effects (decreased sweating, accommodation paresis, difficulty urinating).

From the cardiovascular system: decreased blood pressure, tachycardia, cyanosis.

From the urinary system: impaired renal function, oliguria, anuria, proteinuria, interstitial nephritis, red staining of urine.

From the hematopoietic organs: with long-term use - thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, bronchospastic syndrome, anaphylactic shock, Quincke's edema: erythema multiforme (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome).

Overdose

In case of an overdose of the drug, the following may occur: symptoms: vomiting, a feeling of dry mouth, decreased sweating, impaired accommodation, decreased blood pressure, sniffling, confusion, impaired liver and kidney function, convulsions.

Treatment: gastric lavage, administration of activated carbon, symptomatic therapy.

Drug interactions

The simultaneous use of Spazmalgon with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to mutual enhancement of toxic effects. Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, and allopurinol disrupt the metabolism of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxicity. Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the effect of metamizole. Simultaneous use with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood. Sedatives and tranquilizers enhance the analgesic effect of Spazmalgon.

When administered together with H1-histamine blockers, butyrophenones, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, amantadine and quinidine, the m-anticholinergic effect may be enhanced.

Enhances the effects of ethanol. Concomitant use with chloriromazine or other phenothiazine derivatives can lead to the development of severe hyperthermia.

X-ray contrast drugs, colloidal blood substitutes and penicillin should not be used during treatment with drugs containing metamizole sodium.

Metamizole sodium, displacing oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants, glucocorticoids and indomethacin from protein binding, can increase the severity of their action.

Thiamazole and cytostatics increase the risk of developing leukopenia.

The effect is enhanced by codeine, H2-histamine receptor blockers and propranolol (slows down the inactivation of metamizole sodium).

If it is necessary to use these and other medications simultaneously, you should consult your doctor.

special instructions

With long-term (more than a week) use of the drug, monitoring of the peripheral blood picture (leukocyte content) and the functional state of the liver is necessary. If agranulocytosis is suspected or thrombocytopenia is present, the drug should be discontinued.

What does Spazmalgon help with? "Spazmalgon" (tablets, injections): instructions, use, reviews

More and more often, recently, people have to resort to taking various medications. So, some drugs save you from viruses and bacteria, others are an excellent painkiller. This article will tell you about what Spazmalgon helps with. It is also worth saying a few words about the reviews that the drug has and the method of its use. You will find out in what forms the medicine “Spazmalgon” is produced.

Composition of the drug

The medicine has a special composition. It contains very strong components that quickly begin to act during treatment. This product contains the following substances:

  • sodium metamizole in the amount of 500 milligrams;
  • pitofenone hydrochloride in an amount of 2 to 5 milligrams (depending on the form of release);
  • fenpiverinium bromide - from 20 mcg (depending on the form of the medicine).

Who is the drug prescribed for?

The drug in tablet form is prescribed to patients who have no contraindications to taking this medication. The only exception is children under 15 years of age. In some cases, the medicine can be prescribed to children over 6 years old, but the recommendation must be given by a specialist.

The drug "Spazmalgon" (injections) can be used from the age of three months. In this case, it is necessary to select an individual dosage, taking into account the course of the disease and the weight of the baby. The medicine "Spazmalgon" in ampoules can also be prescribed to adults who have no contraindications to the use of the drug.

Who should refrain from using the medicine?

If the patient has problems with the kidneys and liver, as well as tumors of the thyroid and prostate glands, then this remedy should absolutely not be used. It is also worth choosing an alternative to the drug "Spazmalgon" (analogues) for women in early pregnancy or one month before giving birth.

The drug is not prescribed to babies under three months of age. Also, tablets are not recommended for children under six years of age.

What does Spazmalgon help with?

This drug is a highly effective new generation drug. It perfectly reduces temperature, relieves various pain sensations and has an anti-inflammatory effect. The special combination of components included in the composition has an enhanced effect on the body.

Metamizole sodium is a drug that relieves inflammation and inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins. Pitophenone hydrochloride affects the smooth muscles of the whole body, relieving spasms and relaxing them. Fenpiverinium bromide has an additional analgesic effect, helping the previous component work. The drug is prescribed to eliminate various pathologies. Let's take a closer look at what Spazmalgon helps with.

For smooth muscle spasms and pain syndrome

The drug perfectly helps with periodic pain in women associated with the characteristics of the menstrual cycle. The product also perfectly eliminates colic of various origins (renal, hepatic, intestinal, and so on).

“Spazmalgon” helps very well against toothache. Also, while taking the drug, the shooting sensations in the head disappear. It is worth noting that such pain can have a different nature (narrowing or dilation of blood vessels, spasm of nerve endings, and so on). The drug can even cope with migraines. However, in this case it must be taken as early as possible.

For neurological diseases

The drug effectively copes with a variety of unpleasant sensations caused by neurological problems. These include the following: pinched nerve, atralgia, myalgia, and so on.

It is worth noting that in these cases the greatest effect can be achieved in the liquid form of the drug (with intravenous or intramuscular administration). However, tablets also have a positive effect in treatment.

After various interventions

The drug perfectly relieves pain after surgery. In this case, it doesn’t matter what exactly causes discomfort. The product can relieve muscle spasms and pain in the joint, turn off the sensitivity of the skin and “de-energize” the nerve endings.

Often after operations, the drug is prescribed for preventive purposes. In this case, all forms of this drug are used. In some cases, the medicine is used as a premedication (before surgery).

As an antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent

What else does Spazmalgon help with? As you already know, the drug has the ability to relieve fever and inflammation in various human organs and systems. Thus, the drug is prescribed to relieve influenza and treat colds. The drug perfectly relieves fever and improves the patient's condition.

Most often, capsules are used for oral administration, with the exception of illness in young children.

How to use the product?

You already know that the drug has two release forms. At the same time, the drug "Spazmalgon" is prescribed to children more often for intramuscular or intravenous administration. In each individual case, a separate dosage and duration of treatment are selected.

The tablets are taken after eating food with sufficient water. You can take no more than six capsules per day. In this case, a single dose should not exceed two pills. You can use the medicine only after 15 years.

In some cases, doctors may prescribe this medicine to young children. In this case, the dosage should be as follows. From 6 to 8 years - half a capsule per dose. After 9 years - three quarters of a tablet to take. You can use a repeated dose no more than three times a day.

Injections

This dosage form can be used from three months of a child’s life. The dosages will be as follows. In the first year of life - 0.1 milliliters of the drug. Up to four years - double dose (0.2 ml). After five years -0.4 milliliters once. Children aged 8 years and older are administered 0.5-0.8 milliliters.

Treatment with this remedy should not last more than five days. If the doctor has established his own course of treatment, then it is necessary to monitor the condition of the circulatory system and liver.

Can there be negative reactions to the medicine?

Like any other drug, Spazmalgon has side effects. Among them are the following:

  • allergies (manifested by urticaria, itching of mucous membranes or anaphylactic shock);
  • heart reaction (increased heart rate, abnormal blood pressure, dizziness or fainting);
  • reaction of the circulatory system (observed only with prolonged uncontrolled use of the drug);
  • reaction of the respiratory system (shortness of breath, bronchospasm).

Can the medicine be used with other drugs?

The product may not be combined with some medications. For example, when used with hormonal contraceptives or certain depressants, the drug has a particularly harmful effect on the condition of the liver and blood.

If you use the drug together with sedatives, you can get a pronounced analgesic effect. In any case, it is better to divide the time of taking different medications so that there is a gap of at least 2-3 hours between them.

When using the medicine, you should refrain from taking antipyretic drugs. Because otherwise, an overdose of the active substance may occur and a negative reaction may occur.

"Spazmalgon": analogues

Currently, manufacturers produce a wide variety of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. So, among them we can highlight “Nurofen”, “Solpadein”, “Spazgan” and many others.

Some patients try to replace their prescribed medication with a more affordable one. So, the question often arises about what to choose - “Spazmalgon” or “Spazgan”. Doctors strongly do not recommend self-medication and not looking for an alternative to the medicine on your own. Use only the drug prescribed by your doctor.

Price category

The medicine has different release forms and number of doses. So, the manufacturer produces tablets of 20 and 50 pieces per package. A small pack will cost you about 100 rubles. If you need to purchase a large package, then be prepared to pay from 200 to 250 rubles for it.

Injections are available in 2 and 5 milliliters per dose. In this case, you can find 10 ampoules in a pack. A smaller dosage costs from 200 to 250 rubles. Larger volume injections will cost you approximately 350 rubles.

Reviews about the medicine

The drug has mostly positive reviews. However, some patients note that the product has a rather toxic effect on the body. That is why it should not be used on its own for more than five days. Also, negative effects may be observed if the dose of the drug is increased.

People who have used the product say that the most common symptoms of overdose are pain in the stomach and intestines. This applies to the capsule form of release. If a person abuses injections, then fainting, vomiting and diarrhea may occur. Doctors say that treatment should be started immediately.

Summing up and a short conclusion

Now you know what the drug Spazmalgon can help with. Remember that you should not prescribe such a potent medicine yourself. If you need one-time pain relief, you should choose analogues of this drug. Never give the medicine to small children or those people who have contraindications to the use of the medicine. Before use, always read the instructions carefully and follow the advice of your doctor. Only in this case, the benefit from the treatment provided will be significantly greater than the harm received from the drug. Be healthy!

Spazmalgon - what does it help with and how to take it?

There are medications that almost every person has in their home medicine cabinet. These are Activated carbon, Paracetamol, Acetylsalicylic acid, etc. More and more often you can meet people who add Spazmalgon to the list of mandatory medications. This drug is used as an effective pain reliever, which has a rapid effect and several forms of release. Spazmalgon is used both when single attacks of painful sensations occur, and as part of complex treatment of various ailments prescribed by a doctor. Let's consider all aspects of the use of this drug and existing restrictions.

Composition and active ingredient of the drug

The active ingredient of the drug is a substance called metamizole sodium. It is a non-narcotic analgesic and myotropic antispasmodic, has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic properties and the ability to reduce pain. Its content in one tablet is 500 mg. The drug also contains other active ingredients in smaller quantities:

  • pitofenone - has a direct effect on smooth muscle structures, promoting its relaxation;
  • fenpiverinium bromide - a substance necessary to enhance the relaxing effect.

The combination of all the described components of the drug allows you to achieve a targeted and pronounced effect; taking the tablets effectively relieves spasms and minimizes pain.

The composition also includes auxiliary components that may affect the ability to take the drug due to the likely development of individual intolerance to at least one of them: lactose, wheat starch, gelatin, talc, magnesium stearate, sodium bicarbonate.

There is also a liquid form - solution for injection (ampoules of 2 and 5 ml). The choice of form is made depending on the intensity of the painful sensations that need to be neutralized.

How long does it take for Spazmalgon to work?

Considering the fact that the drug contains several active substances that complement and support each other’s action, the effect occurs quite quickly. After entering the stomach, the substances are quickly absorbed, and the maximum concentration in the blood mass is reached after a third of an hour. After injection of Spazmalgon, the effect is achieved in just 8-10 minutes.

Indications for use of the drug

Before deciding to use a particular drug, it is important to understand exactly how it works. Some perceive Spazmalgon as a pain reliever, and it really helps with painful sensations, but only of a certain nature. Therefore, the list of indications for which tablets and injections will provide relief is of particular relevance.

Spazmalgon tablets for headaches and migraines

The described drug can provide active relief from painful sensations and severe migraines if such symptoms are provoked by a spasm (sudden changes in pressure, problems with blood vessels, drinking coffee and strong tea in large quantities, fatigue, nervous tension). Discomfort caused by spasm of blood vessels or muscles will be eliminated, as Spazmolgon will relax tense areas. The pills also help with hangovers.

The drug is also used to relieve symptoms of migraines, but the effect will only be if the pill was taken in advance, otherwise the pain relief will be temporary and the discomfort will return after the active substance wears off.

Use for menstrual pain

During menstruation, a substance called prostaglandin begins to actively work in the uterus, which stimulates contractions of the organ to effectively remove the necessary tissues and fluids out. High levels of these substances can provoke too strong contractions - spasms, which will cause severe discomfort, in some cases even pain in the lower abdomen. Not every woman suffers from this, but if discomfort occurs, then it is necessary to deal with it. Spazmalgon will help reduce the increased activity of contractions, but it is worth considering that it cannot be used in case of renal failure and problems associated with hematopoiesis.

For toothache

Considering the specifics of the drug, it is important to find out whether Spazmalgon will help with toothache, because we are talking about bone tissue. First of all, it is worth noting that a tooth can hurt for the following reasons:

  • there are enamel destructions;
  • caries has developed to the pulp, which provoked its inflammation;
  • the inflammatory process has spread not only deep into the tooth, but also to the surrounding tissues, etc.

All of the situations described above are accompanied by pain, most often it is pulsating and shoots sharply. Taking the described drug in this case will help relax the muscle tissue, and painful impulses will not be able to spread, due to which the “lumbago” and pulsation will no longer bother you. Thus, Spazmalgon can be used as an effective remedy for toothache. However, if there is an active inflammatory process in the oral cavity, then there may be no effect from taking the pill at all, and in this case it is better to immediately contact a dentist.

At a temperature

The main active ingredient of the drug, among its properties, has the effect of lowering body temperature. For this reason, tablets and injections can be used when the thermometer is high, if it is caused by colds or infectious-inflammatory causes. In the case where the increase is psychosomatic in nature, the drug is not effective.

For cystitis

The ingredients of the drug include fenpiverinium bromide, which is specifically used for pain syndromes of varying severity that accompany various diseases of the internal organs: biliary colic, chronic colitis, hepatic colic, impaired motility of the biliary tract, etc. Its use will also be effective for inflammation of the bladder (cystitis), including for the temporary treatment of pain due to surgical interventions or diagnostic tests. The effectiveness of the tablets is achieved due to the fact that the relaxing effect will relieve tension from the ureter, thereby minimizing pain.

For abdominal pain

The effectiveness of taking the drug for pain in the elements of the digestive system will be achieved only if the discomfort is provoked by muscle spasms (for example, with intestinal colic or cramping pain in the stomach).

Can I take it during pregnancy and lactation?

The described drug should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If during breastfeeding there is an urgent need to use Spazmalgon as part of treatment, then feeding should be stopped for a while.

Spazmalgon: increases or decreases blood pressure?

An increase in pressure is a direct consequence of a spasm of the vascular elements, when their lumen narrows and it becomes more difficult for blood to move. Taking into account the peculiarities of the composition of the drug in question, it becomes obvious that its use reduces blood pressure, as vascular spasm is relieved. However, it is worth noting that Spazmalgon is not suitable as a separate drug for stabilizing blood pressure; it can only be used as a last resort, if you need to quickly normalize the situation, and there are no specialized drugs.

Instructions for use of Spazmalgon tablets and injections

Taking the tablet drug without a doctor's prescription can last a maximum of three days. The dosage depends on the patient's age:

  • an adult can take up to 2 tablets at a time, but no more than 6 tablets during the day;
  • teenagers (12-16 years old) can take only one tablet at a time, with a maximum of 4 tablets per day;
  • at the age of 8 to 11 years, one dose should be no more than half a tablet, the daily maximum is 3 pieces;
  • children from 5 years of age - half at a time, maximum 2 whole tablets throughout the day.

It is worth considering that the interval between doses of the drug should not be less than 4 hours. The tablet should be taken whole, washed down with water, without crushing or chewing.

As for the injection solution, it is administered intramuscularly and for an adult the dosage is from 2 to 5 milliliters a maximum of three times a day. The total daily dose should not exceed 10 ml of the drug. Stop injection therapy if it does not produce results or if there is improvement and you can switch to the tablet form of the drug.

Harm from use and side effects

Harm from using the drug can occur if the rules of administration are ignored or the recommended dosages are exceeded. The manufacturer indicates the following possible side effects:

  • allergic reactions with skin manifestations;
  • some discomfort in the stomach;
  • decreased blood pressure;
  • heart rhythm disturbance;
  • vision problems;
  • a feeling of dryness in the mouth;
  • in the presence of gastritis - its exacerbation;
  • urinary retention;
  • development of renal failure;
  • with a tendency to bronchospasm, an attack may begin.

In case of an overdose, an extensive allergic reaction, digestive tract disorders, and, in especially severe cases, symptoms of brain damage usually occur. If even minimal side effects occur, you should stop taking the drug and seek medical help.

What are the contraindications?

Taking the drug must be consistent with the contraindications indicated in the instructions, otherwise not only will the desired effect not be achieved, but an unpleasant deterioration may also occur. The following admission restrictions apply:

  • chronic heart failure;
  • serious functional disorders of the kidneys and liver;
  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • angina pectoris;
  • obstruction of the digestive tract;
  • diseases of the prostate gland with a tendency to urine retention;
  • children's age (meaning up to 6 years);
  • presence of alcohol in the body;
  • in the presence of individual intolerance.

You should approach taking Spazmalgon with some caution if you have any kidney or liver disorders, a tendency to low blood pressure and bronchospasm.

Cheap analogues of the drug

The closest analogues of Spazmalgon in composition are the drugs Baralgetas, Maxigan, Renalgan, Spazmadol, Spazgan, but not all of them can be called cheap. The most affordable product is Renalgan.

What does Spazmalgon help with - how and how long does it take to act?

Spasmalgon is a drug that contains an antispasmodic, an M-anticholinergic blocker and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The tablets have a pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic effect and are used to quickly eliminate pain, as well as as an antipyretic for ARVI or influenza. Next, we will take a closer look at what Spazmalgon helps with and the features of its use in adults and children.

Indications for use of Spazmalgon

The combined composition of Spazmalgon makes the drug literally universal. In other words, the scope of application of Spazmalgon tablets is very extensive. Thus, taking tablets is indicated in the presence of mild or moderate pain syndrome that occurs against the background of diseases such as:

  • intestinal and stomach colic, various disorders of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • diseases of the urinary system accompanied by urination disorders;
  • dysmenorrhea and diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
  • dyskinesia of the gallbladder;
  • cholelithiasis and other ailments accompanied by pain and discomfort.

Spazmolgon (injections) in the form of an injection solution should be used in cases where there is a need to quickly relieve pain due to postcholecystectomy syndrome, hepatic or renal colic and other diseases of the abdominal cavity. The active components of the tablets are removed from the body through the urinary system.

Spasmalgon for headaches

Spasmalgon helps against headaches in cases where the pain syndrome is not a consequence of increased intracranial pressure or cerebrovascular accident. In all other cases, taking the drug is allowed in a dosage of no more than 1 tablet at a time. The instructions for use of Spazmalgon state that the daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets. Taking the drug is also indicated for migraines, but doctors advise drinking the drug before the onset of an attack, at the warning stage. Otherwise, it will not be possible to treat severe headaches with the help of tablets.

For pain during menstruation

Often, menstruation is accompanied by pain in the abdominal area, caused by an increase in the tone of the muscles of the uterus, and inflammatory processes occurring in the genitals. Spasmalgon during menstruation helps to eliminate them quickly and effectively. To relieve discomfort, it is recommended to take 1 tablet 2 times a day. In case of severe pain, it is allowed to increase the dose to 6 pieces per day.

For toothache

Spasmalgon also shows its effectiveness in cases where there is a need to eliminate toothache of mild to moderate intensity. No more than 2 tablets are allowed to be taken at a time. The maximum dose is 6 pieces per day. Remember that Spazmalgon taken before going to the dentist significantly reduces the effectiveness of anesthesia, so warn the doctor in advance. After dental treatment, the drug is taken in a dosage of 1 tablet. no more than 2-3 doses per day. The duration of the course of treatment should be no more than 2-3 days.

For stomach pain

Pain in the stomach and intestinal colic, provoked by spasms of smooth muscles, can be eliminated with the help of Spasmalgon. The antispasmodic effect allows them to be taken in case of discomfort arising from an exacerbation of biliary dyskinesia and urolithiasis.

For cystitis

Spazmalgon contains fenpiverinium bromide, an active substance that helps cope with pain resulting from the development of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract. When inflammation occurs, the tension in the ureter is weakened, resulting in difficulty urinating. In this situation, the drug relieves pain and discomfort.

Spasmalgon (in Latin - Spasmalgon) is a widely used medication used for many ailments. Its most effective use is for pain caused by spasms of various origins. Like any other remedy, it has a number of indications and contraindications.

Spasmalgon (in Latin - Spasmalgon) is a widely used medication used for many ailments.

Composition and action

One tablet contains metamizole sodium - 0.5 g, pitofenone hydrochloride - 5 mg, fenpiverinium bromide - 100 mcg. Auxiliary components are added to the tablet to give it its shape.

1 ml of injection solution contains 0.5 g of metamizole sodium, 2 mg of pitofenone hydrochloride salt, 0.02 mg of fenpiverinium. Other substances are deionized water and preservatives to ensure sterility.

The active substance of the drug has a strong antispasmodic effect.

Release form

On sale you can find tablets for oral administration and liquid for injections.

Pharmacological properties of Spazmalgon

Chemical properties provide the therapeutic characteristics of the drug.

Pharmacodynamics

It is a combined medication with a strong antispasmodic effect.

Metamizole is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory substance related to pyrazolone homologues. It has a strong analgesic effect and exhibits an anti-inflammatory effect. The mechanism of activity of the substance is due to the influence of the cyclooxygenase compound. This enzyme disrupts the formation of arachidonic acid.

Metamizole sodium helps reduce the activity of prostaglandins, prostacyclins and thromboxane (active substances that contribute to the development of the inflammatory process in the human body). Deactivates the action of cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2. As a result of inhibition of the activity of these components, inhibition of the susceptibility of receptors to pain impulses is observed.

A decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins after the use of Spazmalgon leads to a decrease in the production of active substances within the body, which take part in inflammatory processes.

The antipyretic effect is associated with a decrease in local temperature in the area of inflammation. It also helps reduce pain.

Pitophenone is a homologue of piperidine. Has pronounced antispasmodic activity. Reduces tension and activates relaxation of smooth muscle tissue. Thanks to this, the remedy helps eliminate pain caused by spasms.

Phenpiverinium bromide is a chemical compound from the category of m-anticholinergic blockers. It contains quaternary nitrogen in its structure. Eliminates spasm of the smooth muscle layer of internal organs, reduces the degree of muscle tension, reduces the intensity of intestinal and stomach peristalsis. The substance intensively relaxes the smooth muscles of the organs.

All chemical compounds included in Spazmalgon complement and enhance each other.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic properties are presented based on information for metamizole sodium only. Information on the pharmacokinetics of other drugs is incomplete.

After internal use, metamizole enters the bloodstream in the gastrointestinal tract. Hydrolysis occurs in the intestinal walls with the synthesis of a chemically active breakdown product. Peak concentrations of the metabolite are observed later than 0.5-2 hours after internal use.

Bioavailability after intramuscular administration is approximately 85%. Not administered intravenously. Binds predominantly to plasma proteins. Metabolism occurs in the liver with the formation of active components. A small part is evacuated with the liver. The vast majority of metabolic products are excreted in the urine.

In case of hepatic pathologies, a decrease in the rate of elimination of the drug may be observed. In some people, due to genetic characteristics, drug metabolism parameters may change.
